Monthly Running Log
updated 2007-Sept-05
Monthly Running Log -- an Excel spreadsheet to track your running (or biking, ...) progress. It fits on a single (landscape orientation) 8.5"x11" page for easy printing.
Enter your data (date, course, distance, calories, time), and it automatically fills out two sets of tables which show you a breakdown of your runs by various mileages or various durations (time). It also computes your overall statistics like total time ran and average overall pace.
I hope a few people find it useful. You can change the ranges for each set of tables. All the cells which have formulas are "protected" so you don't accidentally delete a computed value, but there is no password so you can go to Tools --> Unprotect Sheet and make any changes you like.
Some usage tips:
I just enter my new workouts day by day and find this to be pretty easy.
If you use MapMyRun (I highly recommend it!), you can also copy the data from all your past runs at once:
If you go to "My Training" --> "List Your Workouts" you can copy/paste the contents of the table into Excel (only works from Internet Explorer not Firefox here ... too bad!). Too avoid weird looking web-colors when you paste, I suggest:
1) Paste into a blank excel spreadsheet
2) Copy the data from that spreadsheet (I'd sort it first using Data->Sort to put it in date order)
3) Go to the running log, click the top left cell (B4) and do Edit -> Paste Special -> Text.
The only disadvantage is run time is not displayed on the MapMyRun list of workouts so you have to enter those manually. I thought it was worth it :-).

That was a lot of text! Anyway, let me know what bugs you find or what suggestions you have. Feedback most welcome! Enjoy!
